Missions Update February 16th, 2013:
Philadelphia District NYI:
This continues to be a blessed year for us as the District Missions Directors. In July, a group of 24 teens and chaperones had the opportunity to minister to our Nazarene family in La Piedad, Michoacan, Mexico. While there, our Mexican hermanos y hermanas (brothers and sisters) also ministered amazingly to our team as well. It was a wonderful representation of the Ephesians 4 theme that we are all a part of one body under Christ. Our group painted the sanctuary along with members of the First Church of the Nazarene in La Piedad. The church also asked our group to hold a VBS in the local park. The students and chaperones created and held a three-day VBS program. We are so proud of all the students and the work that was accomplished.
We are looking forward to the first local missions weekend we have planned for May 17th and 18th. There is an application available in the Downloads section of this website. We will be working with Frontstep ministries in Philadelphia, PA to complete some work projects in the city and taking time to think about Local missions.
We have also begun planning for our next missions trip. Our plan is to go to Thailand with two Missionaries, Peter and Leanne Clarke in the summer of 2014 who served there for several years and have developed a wonderful ministry where we can help them do some of God's continued work in that part of the world. We will be speaking more about this possibility at the next District assembly and will make applications live at that time. We will also be speaking more with our district teens at this years teen camp and will conduct interviews at teen camp, the back to school rally and make some other interview possibilities available as needed. If interested, please contact us about this trip at that time.
