TIM GOLDEN

I am Pastor Tim Golden. I am the Associate/Youth Pastor at the Lancaster Church of the Nazarene. I am an Eastern Nazarene College Alumni, and I care deeply about ministering to young people and their families. I grew up on the Philadelphia District while attending the Lansdale Church of the Nazarene. God has been incredibly amazing to me. He has blessed me with a wonderful family. I thank him every day for my wife, Leanne, and my two children Ava, and Lilly. I am thrilled to serve this district as one of your District Presidents.

  • What do you do for the Philadelphia District NYI? I am one of the four District Presidents, serving as the District President of Ministries.
  • What is your favorite food? I am a big fan of Good Sushi as well as Buffalo Chicken anything.
  • What is your favorite TV show? I really enjoy most of the Super Hero shows
  • What was your first job? Cold Stone Creamery.
  • What was your childhood ambition? Live in Jurassic park, you know before the Dino’s started eating everyone.
  • For fun I enjoy: Fishing, and spending time with my family.

  • What is one of your favorite characteristics of Christ? God as a provider.

TREVOR OATES

Trevor Oates joined the staff at Birdsboro as associate pastor of Family Life in May 2016. He is a 2011 graduate of Eastern Nazarene College with a bachelor’s degree in Religion and a minor in Communication Arts. Before his time  at Birdsboro, Trevor was the youth/associate pastor at the West Chester Church of the Nazarene in West Chester, Pennsylvania for over 2+ years.

Emily and Trevor have been married now for 3 years and have a Chocolate Labrador/pit bull mix named Addi, who is an exuberant 3-year-old puppy. They added to their family shortly after arriving  in Birdsboro with the birth of their first child, Paxton James on June 15, 2016, and are very much in love with him. Trevor is very excited for what the future holds for the teens of the Philadelphia District NYI!

 

  • What do you do for the Philadelphia District NYI? I am one of the four District Presidents, serving as the District President of Communications.
  • What is your favorite food? Pepperoni Pizza, and I must try it at whatever pizza place I go!
  • What is your favorite TV show? SportsCenter whenever I have the time to.
  • What was your first job? Newspaper delivery boy for the Morning Call at age 11.
  • What was your childhood ambition? I wanted to be a professional baseball player…yeah once I stopped growing I knew that was not happening.
  • For fun I enjoy: Fishing, playing Vintage Baseball (ask him about it), spending time with Emily and my children, human and dog.
  • Favorite Bible verse or passage? Matthew 25:31-46 and trying to live out that challenge of taking care of the least of these.
  • What is one of your favorite characteristics of Christ? Him as a sustainer through all seasons of life, even when we don’t always see it. (Genesis 22:14)

DARIN PARRY

Darin Parry grew up in the Promised Land Church of the Nazarene, formerly Easton, on the Philadelphia District.  As a teen, he was actively involved in NYI District events.  Some of his fondest memories growing up were made with friends and adults at district NYI events.  He believes strongly that Philadelphia District NYI events and activities should be inclusive and welcoming to all our district churches and teens.  He writes, “The District NYI is here to serve, empower, and enrich local church ministry, no matter its size.  We are not a replacement for local church ministry, but rather a partner in ministry for the benefit of our district teens and the glory of God’s Kingdom.”   Darin currently serves as the pastor to Youth and their Families and Young Adults as the New Holland Church of the Nazarene, loving everything about his job there, but the people are what makes it FUN!

  • What do you do for the Philadelphia District NYI? I am one of four District NYI Presidents, serving as the District President of District Relations.
  • What is your favorite meal?  Spaghetti and Meatballs with Garlic Bread and Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream for dessert.
  • What was your first job?  I was a service attendant at a neighborhood gas station.
  • Where did you attend college?  I attended Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA and graduated class of ‘99
  • For fun I enjoy:  Reading about current events, sharing in conversation over coffee, watching and playing sports, and eating ice cream.
  • Favorite Bible verse or passage? Phil 3:14
  • What is one of your favorite characteristics of Christ?  Forgiveness.  Jesus knew those closest to him would betray him.  Yet, he offered his forgiveness, mercy, and very life for them(and all of us). His forgiveness is life-changing.

BRANDON ESTEP

Brandon serves as the Youth Pastor at Fairview Village Church. He grew up in Kansas City MO where he was raised in the faith at a Nazarene church. He  moved to Nashville in High school and stayed there to attend Trevecca Nazarene University. He accepted a call to ministry there and moved to Philly after His Jr. year of college, finishing his degree in Worship Arts and Religion, and working at Fairview. He has now been there for just under three years, and has a passion for seeing the lost be brought to Christ, and seeing students grow into roles of leadership in the church.

 

  • What do you do for the Philadelphia District NYI? District and Regional Festival of Life Coordinator.
  • What is your favorite food? Steak/Bacon/Shady Maple
  • What is your favorite TV show? Chuck
  • What was your first job? Camp Counselor
  • What was your childhood ambition? To be a Cop/Spy for the CIA.
  • For fun I enjoy: Camping, Kayaking, Playing Guitar/Singing, Movies.
  • Favorite Bible verse or passage? 
 2 Timothy 4:7-8 7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; 8in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.
  • What is one of your favorite characteristics of Christ? His grace, and how he uses people who are unqualified and equips them to do His work.

MATT BROWN

Matt is originally from Queens, NY where he found his love for mentoring students and music. Matt is a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College with a degree in Elementary Education. He taught for a very short time, but found his calling is to aid students in making decisions for the Lord. While at ENC, he was actively involved in youth ministries on the New England District and actively involved in ENC’s Summer Ministries across the Northeastern USA. Afterwards, he served with a ministry internship in Urban Philadelphia and then was a youth intern in Western PA. In 2011 he became a youth pastor on the Philadelphia District, currently serving at the Cape May Seashore Church of the Nazarene.

  • What do you do for the Philadelphia District NYI? I’m one half of the awesome Philly District Teen Bible Quizzing Directing Team & I help in other NYI Events!
  • What is your favorite food?Anything my mother or grandmother cooks, Jamaican food, Pizza, Five Guys, Chicken
  • What is your favorite TV show?Doctor Who, Marvel Agents of SHIELD, Any Game Show (especially the Price is Right)
  • What was your first job? Camp Taconic 2002 Summer Staff. One of the best jobs I’ve ever had.
  • What was your childhood ambition?Becoming a game show host or hosting the Tonight Show. (I still do!)
  • For fun I enjoy: Bowling, Board Games, Card Games, Game shows, acting, singing, eating, chilling with friends and worshiping Jesus!!
  • Favorite Bible verse or passage? Psalm 27:1
  • What is one of your favorite characteristics of Christ?He protected me. He saved me. He corrects me. He loves ME for ME.

DREW JOHNSON

Drew Johnson is a member of Cornerstone Family Church in Limerick, PA.  He serves as a teen leader at Cornerstone church in addition to helping to lead the worship on Sunday mornings.  He has served on numerous mission trips around the world with a number of organizations.  As a full-time job, Drew teaches middle schoolers the beauty of mathematics.  He attempts to live out the servant’s prayer each day in his life, “Give me the heart of a servant, tender, faithful, and true.  Fill me with love, then use me O Lord, so that the world can see You.” For Drew, there is nothing more rewarding than to see a young person sharing their talents in serving and loving others in the name of Jesus.

  • What do you do for the Philadelphia District NYI? District Missions coordinator
  • What is your favorite food? Fuji apples & any flavor of ice cream
  • Who is your favorite Youtuber? Matt Parker (it’s a math thing…)
  • What was your first job? Freddy Hill farms – golf shack cashier
  • What was your childhood ambition? I still plan on being a radio DJ when I grew up
  • For fun I enjoy: Singing, running, listening to classical music, eating out for breakfast, and playing random games
  • Favorite Bible verse or passage? For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13
  • What is one of your favorite characteristics of Christ? The Lord is my banner over me.

PAMELA HAGLUND

  • What do you do for the Philadelphia District NYI? Co-director of District Teen Quizzing Team.
  • What is your favorite food? Pizza… I can never have too much pizza.  It’s my once a week treat.
  • What is your favorite TV show? Right now I’m a Hallmark Christmas movie sap.  Otherwise I like the show Heartland.
  • What was your first job? Cashier for Menards… It’s a store in the midwest that is like Lowes or Home Depot.
  • What was your childhood ambition? I wanted to be a doctor on the mission field.
  • For fun I enjoy: Spending time with my family, making crafts and painting, reading books (although I usually fall asleep)
  • Favorite Bible verse or passage? I regularly choose different Bible verses as my background for my computer so that I can be reminded of something God has recently put on my heart.  One of my favorite life verses is Ephesians 4:29… with God’s help, I live this verse the best that I can.
  • What is one of your favorite characteristics of Christ? His grace and love for all — whether good or bad, kind or unkind, loving or unloving, deserving or undeserving… may I be like Christ.

JARROD (JAY) GEISTDORFER

Jay is the Philadelphia District NYI Young Adult Representative. He currently serves as the Pastor to Young Adults and Sports Ministry at Immanuel Church of the Nazarene in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. He is married to Dorie Geistdorfer aka: Mamma G. They have 2 kids: Alex 22, he is married, and Avery, 19, she is a freshman at Olivet Nazarene University.

  • What do you do for the Philadelphia District NYI? I am the District NYI Young Adult representative.
  • What is your favorite food?  BEEF- I love a good steak anywhere and anytime!! Add some Bacon and I’m yours!
  • What is your favorite TV show?  Meat Eater- its a hunting show where they go on crazy hunting adventures
  • What was your first job?  I used to catch Carp fish at the spillway and sell them to a guy in town for a dollar each. I would make about 20 bucks a weekend!
  • What was your childhood ambition?  I wanted to be a Texas Ranger Baseball Player, and a Texas Ranger.
  • For fun I enjoy: Hunting and Fishing and Loving on my family and church

Romans 12- I want to live as a sacrifice Holy and Pleasing to the Lord!
  • What is one of your favorite characteristics of Christ? He loved his People so much he would be present in there Pain- Bible says “He wept” when he saw us broken in our sadness!

TAMI MURPHY

Hi!  My name is Tami Murphy, and I am your NYI Treasurer. I graduated from Eastern Nazarene College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and completed my master’s degree in molecular biology from Villanova University.  I have a husband, Eric, and two little girls, Averi and Reeselyn,  We attend New Holland Church of the Nazarene where I am an active member of the King’s Closet, a free clothing ministry to the community and surrounding areas, as well as in the Children’s Department as a toddler Sunday School teacher.  I was a teen on the Philly district not *too* many years ago, and I can still remember what an impactful time that was on my spiritual life and growth in my relationship with Jesus Christ.  As your Treasurer, I love being able to help keep these awesome programs and events running smoothly from a financial perspective with the hope that the amazing teens currently on our district can grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ as well, just like I did all those years ago.  I am here to serve you, so definitely feel free to reach out if there’s anything I can do to help!

  • What is your favorite food?  Spinach!  (I know that’s crazy, but I hope we can still be friends)
  • What is your favorite TV show?  Worst Cooks in America (it makes me feel better about myself)
  • What was your first job? Caregiver in a nursing home.  I love old people!
  • What was your childhood ambition? To be a marine biologist annnndd work at Sea World.
  • For fun I enjoy: Spending time with my family, helping people, and scoring free or super cheap deals!
  • Favorite Bible verse or passage? 
1 Corinthians 16:14.  Let everything you do be done in love.
